HIGHLAND, Ind. -- Halloween candy and puns have been de rigeur today on the trail. At a rally with 40,000 folks near Gary, Barack Obama just joked that John McCain doesn't have trouble deciding on a costume.

"Just like every year, he's going as George W. Bush."

Get it?

RNC spokesman Alex Conant shot back that "Obama's costume of being a liberal who wants to redistribute wealth and cut defense spending wouldn't be so scary if it wasn't so true."

Earlier, Obama took a couple hours off to hang with his girls. They didn't actually go trick-or-treating, though he did walk 7-year-old Sasha to a Halloween party. She decided to dress up today as a corpse bride. Her sister, Malia, went as an evil fairy.

Nothing says "morning in America" like "corpse bride."
