Google News to host agencies' news on its own site |

In a shift from existing policy, news aggregator Google News has begun hosting news from agencies like the Press Association of Britain, Canadian Press, Agence France-Presse and The Associated Press on its own site.
Google said this move would allow users to directly access news from the original source rather than direct them to sites which license news from these agencies.
All four companies have agreed to give news feeds to Google News. However the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In a released statement, Google said the new policy would "not only enhances the experience for users, [but] also gives proper recognition to journalists and publishers who work hard to break the news".
Josh Cohen, product manager for Google News said Google was hosting news from the agencies that do not have their own consumer-oriented websites. "Creators of original content should benefit from this," he added. "The goal for Google News is to have as many different perspectives as possible."
He added that the new policy, which came into effect last Friday, would offer consumers "a better variety of sources and less duplication."
The change might mean less traffic to newspaper and media sites that licensed news and images from these agencies.
