PITTSBURGH - The director of "Superbad" needs Pittsburgh area actors for a movie to be filmed at Kennywood Park.
Greg Mottola, director of the summer's smash-hit teen movie, will spend five weeks in western Pennsylvania filming scenes for his next movie, "Adventureland." Filming begins Oct. 3, primarily at the West Mifflin amusement park.
Mottola asked Nancy Mosser Casting of Pittsburgh to cast several principal roles, numerous day-players and extras. "Greg was successful in casting a non-actor for the role of 'McLovin' in 'Superbad.'" Mosser said. "He found teenager Christopher Mintz-Plasse after passing out flyers at high school drama departments in L.A. We are hoping something like that happens here."
One character Mosser will cast is Frigo, a 22-year-old childhood friend of the main character played by Jesse Eisenberg ("The Village"). Frigo's maturity is about 11, but there is something innocent about his childishness, Mosser said.
Mosser also is looking for a teenage rock band to appear in the film. The lead singer will have a singing role, and the band will play a cover song from the 1980s.
