Remember the Titans releases on Blu-ray and is one of those inspirational sports films which manages to stand above the rest of the pack.
Remember the Titans stars Denzel Washington as he plays Herman Boone who is the new coach of TC Williams High School. He is replacing a white coach in a predominately white town in 1971 who has had 15 winning seasons.
The two men are at first bitter rivals but as the film progresses form a nice bond and make for a fantastic feel-good inspirational sports story like none other. The way in which the characters build really makes you feel for them as they progress making for a perfect Disney film of this nature. Sure it may be an inspirational football movie, something that has been done time and time again, but with the amazing acting of Denzel Washington as well as others; Remember the Titans stands above the pack and will put one hell of a smile on your face after you are done watching it.
The Blu-ray release of Remember the Titans is presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encoding.
The film is 113 minutes long in its theatrical version. The actual video presentation on Blu-ray is top notch. The source material being used for the Blu-ray release is the actual film which allows for the most detail to be packed into the high-definition release.
There is a great deal of detail which can be seen in the skin tones and such during things such as the football games and practices. The depth and clarity of the blacks as well as the other brighter colors brings the film to life in a very realistic and gritty sense.
There is nothing to complain about with this Blu-ray video transfer at all as Buena Vista Home Entertainment has delivered once again in this department.
The uncompressed PCM 5.1 surround track is equally as impressive as the video transfer over to Blu-ray.
The uncompressed sound does wonders for a film such as this as it allows it to use every channel in your surround system to its max. This brings the dialogue to life in a greater sense and allows you to feel the crunches of the hits during the football games.
The use of the subwoofer with the sound is probably the most impressive audio aspect. The first time you hear a player from the film get rocked on the football field, you will be feeling it through your subwoofer.

The surrounds are also used in a way to keep you tuned into the action as they are discrete but at the same time allow creating a fully encompassing experience.
The extras packed into the Blu-ray release of Remember the Titans provide a lot of standard-def entertainment as all of the past features from the past DVD versions of the film have been packed into this release.
There are two audio commentaries featured in the release. The first audio commentary is with director Boaz Yakin, screenwriter Gregory Allen Howard, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
